Samsung kies BackupRestoreLib.dll Register Error

Its been more than a month since I purchased my new mobile. Samsung monte. The main reason for the purchase was to have a tool which I can use to synchronize my Calendar with. Regretfully The phone is not as per expectation. While trying to install the associated software (samsung kies) everything goes fine until 91% installation (72% in an older version) then it fires up a message "BackupRestoreLib.dll Register Error" Everything goes downhill from there as it spews a bunch of errors before completion.
Since the normal uninstall fails; I tried to uninstall the software using revo uninstaller and found that It had placed 1500 entries in the registry... 1500?? what is it trying to do?

Since teh day of purchase I have been in contact with Samsung tech support to get this working without success.
The following options have been suggested by tech support till now.
  1. Install the latest version
  2. Disable Antivirus.
  3. Go to MSConfig and disable all services.
  4. Use Ccleaner to fix all registry issues
Doing a google search has resulted in a few foreign language forum posts where others have faced this problem without any solution.

Making a blogpost so that others who have faced this problem can discuss this and inform if they were able to find a solution.
